The Guglielmo Marconi Foundation (FGM) has the main goal to promote and foster research activities related to radio-communications and initiatives aiming at perpetuate the memory and knowledge of the famous scientist’s work.
FGM created a "hot spot" access, whose range extends both inside and outside the Foundation building, in order to allow visitors to use the Internet and to receive any kind of information about the FGM museum.
Users already subscribed to the Iperbole Civic Network and users from the Bologna University (students, teachers, technical-administrative staff) can enter the service directly by using the credentials they already have.
On the other hand, the service has been developed also in order to test new ways to increase the number of potential users of the wireless network. By simply sending an SMS, users will receive a temporary password which will enable them to enter the service for a limited amount of time.
The technical infrastructure has been developed by FGM. The authentication procedure has been realized with the contribution of Acantho. There is also a section available with no authentication required, at the url: http://walledgarden.fgm.it
